TRANSFORMING COMMUNITIES EQUIPPING THE CHURCH TO ENGAGE IN SOCIETY SATURDAY 28TH JANUARY | COVENTRY CATHEDRAL |
HOME

OVERVIEW
OVERVIEW
Historically, Jesus Christ has had a hugely significant and beneficial effect on our nation, providing a foundation for our life together. In recent years, however, that framework has been questioned and our society has undergone enormous change. Many are now asking what the future holds. All this brings both new opportunities and new challenges for Christians and Churches as we seek to hold out the hope of Jesus Christ and to serve our communities.
Join us for this special day conference during which we will consider a Christian response to some of the underlying trends in our society and identify practical ways in which churches and Christians can bring the life-transforming love, goodness and truth of Jesus Christ to our communities and nation.
‘Awake Arise’ comes to Coventry at the invitation of the Dean:
- Coventry Cathedral
And is a joint initiative of:
- Christian Concern
- Christian Life Ministries Asian Church
and other local churches in Coventry.
SPEAKERS
SPEAKERS
Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali was 106th Bishop of Rochester. He remains a popular speaker and media commentator both in the UK and overseas, particularly with regard to the role of the Church in society, the place of the Christian foundation of our nation and the implications of aggressive secularism and Islam.
Andrea Minichiello Williams is director of Christian Concern and the Christian Legal Centre. For more than a decade Andrea has been at the forefront of speaking of Jesus Christ and the values that flow from Him in public life – especially in the media, the courts and politics.
Alan Craig is leader of the Christian Peoples Alliance. He was a local councillor in Newham for eight years and stood as a candidate for London Mayor in 2008. He has been active as a local campaigner for many years.
Rob Joy is a former drug dealer who became a Christian six years ago. He is now involved in evangelism, compassion ministries and local community issues in the UK and overseas.
